GBY Sympathies With Victims Of Bassa Bomb Explosion, Calls On Authority To End Terrorism

Miffed with the recent explosive in a community, the Gbegnu Boku Yakwo Association (GYB); a pan Gbagyi socio-cultural group has sympathised with the victims of the bomb blast.

The explosive occured in Bassa community under Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

The President, Gbegnu Boku Yakwo Association, Niger State Chapter, Comrade Bako Wakili Bossoina statement ,condemned the bomb explosion describing it as the highest form of terrorism that must be checked to end unwarranted killing of helpless farmers.

He observed with serious concern that since the announcement by the Nigerian Army on “tactical withdrawal” of soldiers deployed to combat terrorism in Allawa axis of Shiroro, communities under Shiroro have been suffering increasing attacks that have claimed many lives including destruction of properties and abductions as well as demand for ransome.

Comrade Bako Wakili expressed concern that if the Niger State Government must attain its revolutionary agricultural slogan of “Niger can Feed the Nation”, the government must be proactive in mitigating the increasing rate of crimes against law abiding citizens especially in our rural communities who are predominantly farmers.

The statement added that protection of lives and properties of the citizens are constitutional responsibility of the government and in view of this, the government at all levels must prioritize security by deploying security personnel to affected communities to restore law and order.

The endless acts of banditry and kidnapping have caused untold hardship to the people of Shiroro Local Government hence the need for the State and Federal government to intensify efforts with a view to bringing an end to the heinous crimes being perpetrated by the unscrupulous elements.

It will be recalled that terrorists planted bombs and landmines in Bassa community, which tragically claimed the lives of no fewer than three individuals on their way to their farms and several others sustained various degrees of injuries thereby leaving the communities in a state of perpetual fear, sorrow and uncertainties.
