Tinubu’s Wife Disburses Over N50M Bags Of Rice to 250 Ebonyi Elders

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has disbursed over N50 million alongside with bags of rice to 250 elderly citizens in Ebonyi state .

The impactful program, aimed at annually supporting the welfare of elderly citizens.

Nigeria first lady who was represented by Chief Mrs. Maudline Uzomaka Ogbonna Nwifuru, the wife of Ebonyi State Governor, at the Women Development Center in Abakaliki.

The beneficiaries, aged 65 and above, hailed from all 36 states of the nation, showcasing a wide-reaching act of benevolence.

It was revealed by Chief Mrs. Nwifuru that the Federal Capital Territory and veterans affiliated with the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association were also included in the initiative.

A staggering total of one billion, nine hundred million Naira was earmarked for distribution across Nigeria, with the FCT and DEPOWA each receiving a substantial sum of fifty million Naira.

Exemplifying the dedication to enhancing the welfare of elderly citizens, each beneficiary was set to receive N200,000 each

The gratifying initiative underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to providing support and improving the well-being of elderly citizens who have significantly contributed to society.

Expressing heartfelt appreciation for the program, the beneficiaries vowed to utilize the funds prudently, highlighting the profound impact this assistance would have on their lives.

During the event, Mrs Nwifuru further enrolled 250 elderly citizens into a health insurance scheme aimed at providing them with access to quality healthcare services.

She emphasized the importance of ensuring that the elderly population in the state has access to healthcare services.

“The challenges faced by many elderly individuals in accessing affordable and quality healthcare and it is my commitment to improve their overall well-being.

“The enrollment of 250 elderly citizens into the health insurance scheme is a significant step towards fulfilling my goal of providing better healthcare services to the elderly population in Ebonyi state.

“I hoped that this initiative will help to improve the health outcomes and quality of life for the elderly individuals who are now enrolled in the scheme” Mrs Nwifuru said .
