Niger state Proposes N1.50 Trillion 2025 Budget

Niger State governor Mohammed Umar Bago has presented an estimate of N1.50 trillion budget for the 2025 fiscal year for approval.

The budget was presented to the house around 5.15pm Thursday of which the Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Mustapha Ndajiwo has made formal presentation at the government house council meeting for approval of the executive.

Governor Bago informed the house that the estimate is made up of N188.42bn or 15.68% recurrent and 1.01tn or 84.34% capital expenditure respectively.

He said when compared with the approved budget of 2024, the estimate represents an increase of 32.94% this fiscal year

According to the governor’s analysis “even though the 2024 approved budget was supplemented with the sum of N191.98bn, the breakdown of the draft 2025 proposals revealed an increase of 1.18% and 32.98% in recurrent and capital expenditure respectively.”

Governor Bago in his remarks, stressed that the size of the estimate was informed by the gap in infrastructure and key development areas and the inflationary trend of the country.

The 2026 budget tagged” budget of hope and sustainability” will focus on human capital development “.

Sources for revenue, IGR , Federal allocation, Valued Added Tax VAT, grants , agricultural and solid mineral.
