Woman dies after slumping moments after breakfast in Abuja community
A housewife, identified as Fatima Musa, has reportedly died after slumping shortly after eating breakfast in Paiko community, Gwagwalada, within the Federal Capital Territory.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, has left residents in shock, as the deceased was said to be in good health prior to the sudden collapse.
A neighbour, Shuaibu Bala, disclosed that the woman had just finished eating when she stood up to take her bath but suddenly slumped.
According to him, one of her children immediately raised the alarm, drawing the attention of neighbours who rushed to the scene. Efforts were made to assist her before her husband was contacted.
“The husband was not at home at the time. He was called and rushed back to take her to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead,” Bala said.
The deceased was later taken home and buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
It was gathered that her husband, Musa Ibrahim, is a retired staff member of the Gwagwalada Area Council and had reportedly lost his first wife only a few months earlier.
Reacting to the incident, the Chairman-elect of the council, Mohammed Kasim Ikwa, led a delegation on a condolence visit to the bereaved family, expressing shock over the sudden death.
He prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and urged the family to accept the loss as the will of God.
The incident comes barely weeks after a similar tragedy was reported in the same area, where a mother of three reportedly died in her sleep, raising fresh concerns among residents.
