Former Oyo State Deputy Governor Moses Adeyemo has been elected chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. The announcement was made during the ongoing state congress at Liberty Stadium, Ibadan.

The party’s publicity secretary, Olawale Sadare, said Adeyemo’s election followed consultations among party leaders across Oyo State’s 33 local government areas. Adeyemo, who hails from Igboho in Oorelope Local Government Area, served as deputy governor under the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi from 2011 to 2019.

The congress was reportedly conducted peacefully, with Adeyemo emerging by consensus under the supervision of a committee appointed by the APC national leadership. Positions in the State Executive Committee were allocated among local government chapters by an ad hoc zoning committee chaired by Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, with Hon Azeez Repete serving as secretary.

The APC national leadership had scheduled state congresses for March 3 in preparation for the party’s National Convention on March 27–28, following the completion of ward and local government congresses and the election of delegates for the National Convention.
