Fubara Congratulates APC Candidates on Rivers Bye-Election Wins

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has congratulated candidates of the All Progressives Congress who emerged victorious in the recent bye-elections conducted in two constituencies of the state.

The polls were organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission to fill legislative vacancies in the state assembly. The winners secured their seats after defeating contenders from other political parties in the constituencies where voting took place.

In a statement issued by his media office, the governor described the victories as deserved outcomes that reflected the candidates’ popularity and acceptance among voters in their respective communities.

He said democratic governance thrives when citizens are free to choose leaders they believe in, noting that the election results underscored the importance of public confidence in determining political outcomes.

Fubara expressed readiness to work with the newly elected lawmakers and their colleagues in the assembly, emphasising the need for collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government to deliver development projects and improved public services.

He also commended residents of the constituencies for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the electoral process, praising their orderly participation before, during, and after voting.

In a separate update on governance, the governor highlighted progress made by his administration in the health sector. He said more than two thousand health personnel have been recruited to strengthen manpower in public hospitals and clinics.

He also noted that several abandoned medical facilities, including zonal hospitals across different parts of the state, have been revived and expanded to improve access to healthcare.

According to him, the administration has introduced mental-health services within the primary healthcare system to address psychological stress linked to economic hardship and social pressures. He stressed that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to ensure residents receive both physical and psychological medical support.
