Bayern Munich Confirm Leon Goretzka Will Leave at End of Season

Bayern Munich have officially confirmed that midfielder Leon Goretzka will leave the club at the end of the current season when his contract expires. The confirmation was made by Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund, who stated that the Germany international will remain with the club until the end of the campaign before departing as a free agent.

Freund explained that there are no plans for an early exit, adding that both the club and the player are focused on achieving success together in the remaining months of the season. The announcement was echoed by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who quoted Freund as saying Goretzka’s eight-year spell at Bayern will conclude in the summer.

Goretzka joined Bayern in 2018 from Schalke and quickly established himself as a key figure during one of the most successful periods in the club’s modern history. During his time in Munich, the 29-year-old won multiple Bundesliga titles, domestic cups and the UEFA Champions League, becoming a regular presence in both club and national team setups.

In recent seasons, competition for places in Bayern’s midfield has intensified, leading to reduced playing time for the experienced midfielder. Despite this, Goretzka has remained a respected figure in the dressing room, valued for his professionalism, leadership and experience at the highest level.

Bayern’s decision to allow the midfielder see out his contract signals a mutual understanding between both parties, with the club choosing stability over disruption as they continue to compete on multiple fronts this season.

While his next destination has not yet been confirmed, Goretzka is expected to attract strong interest across Europe due to his pedigree and availability on a free transfer.
