Army Repels Boko Haram Drone Attack, Recovers Terrorist Equipment in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled a Boko Haram drone-coordinated attack during a counterterrorism operation in the Timbuktu Triangle area of Borno State, recovering flags, weapons, and other logistics linked to the insurgents.

The operation followed intelligence-led advances into identified terrorist enclaves, including Chilaria, Garin Faruk and Abirma, where troops encountered resistance while sustaining offensive momentum.

According to military authorities, the operation was conducted under the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity and was supported by air assets that provided continuous intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance coverage. The air-ground coordination enabled real-time monitoring of terrorist movements, disrupted reinforcement efforts and improved the effectiveness of ground forces.

During the operation, troops recovered several items of military value, including communication radios, mobile phones, AK-47 magazines, ammunition of different calibres, and terrorist insignia. Other items seized included vehicles, fuel dumps, medical supplies, food stockpiles, underground logistics facilities and equipment used to support insurgent operations.

The troops reportedly came under drone-assisted armed attacks around midday and again later in the evening. Both attempts were repelled, forcing the insurgents to retreat from the area.

Despite sustained engagements, military authorities said troop morale remains high, with forces maintaining operational effectiveness and vigilance. The security situation in the area was described as calm but unpredictable, with troops on high alert as clearance operations continue.

The military high command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities, protecting civilians and restoring stability across the North-East.
