Nottingham Forest Appoints Postecoglou as New Head Coach

Ange Postecoglou has reached an agreement to take over as head coach of Nottingham Forest, ending the club’s search for a replacement after parting ways with Nuno Espirito Santo.

The 60-year-old Australian is expected to make his return to Premier League football after finalising talks earlier this week. His appointment is set to be confirmed ahead of Forest’s upcoming fixture against Arsenal.

Postecoglou, who previously managed Tottenham Hotspur, will become the eighth manager under the ownership of Evangelos Marinakis since 2017. He left Spurs at the end of last season after a disappointing domestic campaign that saw them finish 17th, though he bowed out with a Europa League triumph that delivered the club’s first trophy in years.

Forest currently sit 10th in the league after three matches. Nuno’s final outing was a 3-0 defeat to West Ham before the international break. The Portuguese coach, who joined in December 2023 following Steve Cooper’s dismissal, guided Forest to safety in his first season. Last year, he masterminded their rise to seventh place — their highest top-flight finish since 1995 — which also secured European qualification for the first time in three decades.
