Breaking: Osun Court Directs OSIEC to Hold Local Government Election

Published

on

An Osun State High Court has ordered the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) to conduct the local government election scheduled for February 22, 2025.

This decision follows a legal challenge by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which argued that there are vacancies in the local government areas of the state.

The court ruled that the previous election held in October 2022 was invalid and the elected officials were removed from office. The court also directed security agencies to provide adequate security during and after the election.
