N100M Donation: First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Assists Families Of Those Killed in Niger StateTanker Fire Disaster

While visiting Governor Muhammad Umaru Bago at the Government House in Minna yesterday to express her condolences, the First Lady announced a donation to assist those affected by the disaster.

She said: “We are aware the governor has done so much to rehabilitate the families of the victims, so we are looking at either under 70 families through the governor’s wife. Each family will have N1 million to help them settle and for other extra expenses like food items. We pray such disaster won’t happen again, and praised Governor Bago’s giant strides in agriculture, and infrastructure development across the state.”

Mrs. Tinubu also met with former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, and erstwhile Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, at their uphill residences in Minna.

Around 10:30 a.m., she touched down at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna aboard a private plane, where Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago and his wife, Hajiya Fatima Bago, warmly welcomed her.

From the airport, the First Lady proceeded directly to General Babangida’s residence, where she held a closed-door meeting lasting approximately 35 minutes.
Following that, she visited the nearby residence of General Abdulsalami Abubakar for another private discussion.

The purpose of the meetings was not made public, and access was limited to members of the Niger State Governor’s press team. When asked for details, officials stated that the visits were strictly private. The governor, in turn, expressed gratitude to the President’s wife for her motherly support and for offering sympathy during this difficult time.

In addition to her meeting with the governor, Mrs. Tinubu also visited former Military President General Ibrahim Babangida and former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar at their residences in Minna.
