Gov. Nasir Idris Unveils N580 Billion 2025 Budget Proposal to Kebbi Assembly

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has presented a N580.3 billion budget proposal for 2025 to the Kebbi State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.

The budget, tagged the “Budget of Economic and Infrastructural Consolidation,” was unveiled at the Assembly’s chambers on Wednesday.

Governor Idris highlighted that the budget prioritizes enhancing agriculture, improving infrastructure, and empowering youth and women, along with other developmental goals

The breakdown of the budget reveals that N453 billion is allocated for capital expenditure, while N127.3 billion is earmarked for recurrent expenditure. The state expects to generate revenue from the following sources:

• Statutory allocation from the federation account: N235.2 billion
• Internally generated revenue (IGR): N25.9 billion

The governor attributed the improvement in IGR to reforms and efficient revenue collection mechanisms.

Key focus areas of the budget include agriculture, mineral resources, social welfare for workers and retirees, infrastructure improvement, and empowerment programs for youth and women. Governor Idris also emphasized strengthening good governance and institutional reforms to ensure balanced development across sectors.

Additionally, the governor expressed satisfaction with the federal government’s decision to transfer the construction of the Koko-Dabai-Mahuta road to the Kebbi State Government, with construction set to begin soon. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing food security, noting the distribution of free fertilizers to farmers and foodstuff to the public.

Governor Idris also highlighted the empowerment of 65,000 individuals, each receiving N100,000, as a significant step toward fostering self-reliance among residents. He commended the strong cooperation between the executive and legislative arms of the state, which has contributed to the state’s successes.
