Fani-Kayode accuses opposition of spreading fake news to destabilise APC

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has accused opposition forces of using disinformation to weaken the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement on Tuesday, Fani-Kayode claimed the strategy aims to create tension within the party and undermine public confidence in its electoral prospects. He called on APC members to remain united against the alleged campaign of misinformation.

He specifically dismissed reports suggesting that his ambassadorial posting to a Central European country was rejected by Germany over alleged ethnic and religious slurs.

“Every day they come up with something new like the fake news about the Governor of Nassarawa State working for Atiku. Tomorrow it will be someone else,” he said, highlighting what he described as a pattern of politically motivated disinformation.

Fani-Kayode warned that the political environment was becoming increasingly heated and urged party supporters to prepare for a challenging 2027 election cycle. He also called for greater mobilisation, especially the inclusion of young people, to strengthen the party’s position.

He expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects, stating, “By God’s grace, the President shall be re-elected in 2027, and Nigeria shall continue to go from strength to strength.”
