BREAKING: Soludo Sworn in for Second Term as Anambra Governor

Governor Charles Soludo has been sworn in for a second term in office, following his victory in the 2025 governorship election in Anambra State.

The inauguration ceremony took place on Tuesday at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in the state capital, Awka, where Soludo took the oath of office alongside his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim.

The event drew the presence of top political figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku.

Also in attendance was Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, alongside other dignitaries from across the country.

Soludo secured his re-election after being declared winner of the November 8, 2025 governorship poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

According to the electoral body, the governor polled 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 99,445 votes. Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party came third with 37,753 votes.

The election featured 16 candidates across political parties, with a total of 2,788,864 registered voters. Of that number, 598,229 voters were accredited, while 595,298 votes were cast, including 11,244 rejected ballots.

Results showed that Soludo recorded a sweeping victory, winning in all 21 local government areas of the state.
