Africa Fixers Launches to Support Cross-Border Film Production

A new pan-African production support company, Africa Fixers, has been launched in Lagos with the goal of simplifying logistics and improving coordination for film and media production projects across the continent.

The company was founded by Nigerian journalist and producer Obaji Akpet, who said the platform is designed to eliminate many of the operational challenges often faced by filmmakers working in multiple African countries.

According to the company, Africa Fixers provides structured production support that enables international and local producers to execute projects more efficiently while leveraging local expertise.

The organisation has assembled a network of more than 100 vetted production fixers across 40 African countries to assist with projects requiring local coordination and specialised knowledge.

Services offered by the platform include location scouting, permit acquisition, logistics management, crew sourcing, cultural advisory services, research, and full-scale field production coordination.

Akpet explained that the initiative aims to unlock the continent’s storytelling potential by creating a reliable system that supports film and media professionals working across borders.

He added that Africa remains one of the most dynamic storytelling environments globally and that providing structured local support would enable productions to operate more efficiently and competitively.

The company also seeks to strengthen collaboration among African professionals and ensure that local talent plays a central role in the growing global demand for African stories.

Akpet, who also founded Black Letter Studios and Tell Africa, has previously worked with several international broadcasters and independent producers on film and documentary projects across the continent.
