NNPC Confirms Major Oil Find at Awodi-07

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has confirmed the successful completion of the Awodi-07 appraisal and exploration well in the shallow offshore western Niger Delta, operated by Chevron Nigeria Limited under a joint venture with NNPC Ltd.

Drilled between late November and mid-December 2025, the well confirmed significant hydrocarbon presence across multiple reservoir zones. NNPC described the outcome as a major milestone, highlighting effective exploration, technical evaluation, and strong operational collaboration between both partners.

Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, praised Chevron Nigeria Limited’s performance, noting that the discovery reinforces the joint venture’s commitment to growing Nigeria’s hydrocarbon reserves and enhancing national energy security.

The Joint Venture, with Chevron holding a 40% stake and NNPC Ltd 60%, aims to increase production to approximately 146,000 barrels per day, supporting government revenue, job creation, and national energy supply.
