Progressive Governors Pass Confidence Vote in Tinubu
The Progressive Governors Forum has reaffirmed support for President Bola Tinubu’s policies and his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, declaring confidence in his leadership and aligning themselves with his re-election bid in 2027.
The position was taken during a meeting in Lagos attended by governors elected under the ruling party. The governors reviewed the political, economic, and security situation in the country, emphasizing that all reforms must ultimately improve citizens’ living conditions and expand opportunities across all demographics.
They commended efforts by the Federal Government to stabilize the economy, tackle rising insecurity, enhance power supply, improve transportation infrastructure, boost food production, and support small businesses. The governors pledged to intensify state-level interventions, especially in food distribution, youth employment, social welfare, and relief measures for low-income households.
On security, the forum noted improved coordination among federal, state, and community-level structures. They promised to strengthen intelligence gathering, local policing systems, community-based security initiatives, and support victims of violence. They also called for greater unity, urging leaders to promote peace and discourage hate speech.
The governors emphasized the importance of effective local governance, adding that improved transparency and accountability at the grassroots would help deliver the Renewed Hope Agenda more effectively. They also committed to strengthening engagement with citizens through town halls and consultations.
They reaffirmed loyalty to the ruling party, describing themselves as custodians of the people’s mandate and key drivers of the national development agenda. The forum expressed confidence in the country’s future and urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, continue supporting government policies, and maintain peace.
During an interaction with party stakeholders, the governors encouraged members to spread information about the administration’s achievements. The Lagos State Governor also praised President Tinubu’s leadership and reaffirmed the commitment of state governors to the administration’s success, noting that unity within the party remains essential for future electoral victories.
