A section of the Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja was affected by a fire in the early hours of today (Thursday), resulting in damage to the Adidas sports outlet located within the complex.

The fire, which reportedly started around 3:00 a.m., was brought under control by operatives of the Federal Fire Service, the FCT Fire Service, and the Julius Berger Fire Unit. The cause of the outbreak is yet to be determined.

No casualties or injuries were recorded, and the affected store was contained before the fire could spread to other parts of the mall, eyewitnesses said.

Spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that police officers were deployed after a distress call was received at about 3:40 a.m. She noted that security personnel were stationed at the location to prevent theft and maintain order while emergency teams worked.

Today’s incident comes just days after a separate fire incident at the Old Karu Market in Abuja, which destroyed goods worth millions of naira. The recurrence has renewed public concern over fire safety preparedness in commercial and public spaces across the FCT.
