Ademola Lookman Nets First Goal of the Season for Atalanta
Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman opened his goal account for the 2025/26 season on Tuesday night, scoring in Atalanta’s Serie A match-day nine fixture against AC Milan. His goal came in the 35th minute, leveling the score after Milan had taken an early lead through Samuele Ricci.
Lookman’s strike, a powerful shot into the top corner, followed a well-placed pass from teammate Mario Pasalic. This marked his seventh appearance of the season across all competitions.
The reigning African Player of the Year has faced a challenging start to the campaign, stemming from a failed transfer to Inter Milan during the summer. The fallout led to a brief strike and his temporary exclusion from the squad. He was later reintegrated with a short appearance in Atalanta’s 3-0 win over Torino in September, followed by a starting role in the Champions League against Club Brugge.
Last season, Lookman delivered an impressive performance with 15 goals and five assists in Serie A, along with five goals and two assists in the Champions League.
