Gusau: Super Falcons’ WAFCON Win Will Inspire Super Eagles’ World Cup Qualification

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has hailed the Super Falcons’ dramatic comeback victory over Morocco in the final of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) as a defining moment for Nigerian football.

Speaking after the match at the Stade Olympique in Rabat, Gusau described the 3–2 win as a powerful symbol of resilience and patriotism, stating that the triumph will serve as a source of inspiration for the Super Eagles in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

Gusau emphasized that the Falcons’ ability to overturn a two-goal deficit and clinch their record-extending 10th WAFCON title exemplifies the Nigerian spirit. He expressed confidence that the men’s team, currently struggling in their qualification group, can draw motivation from the Falcons’ performance to turn their fortunes around in the remaining four matches.

He also praised the team’s overall tournament performance, highlighting their tally of 14 goals scored and only three conceded. Individual accolades followed the victory, with Rasheedat Ajibade named Player of the Tournament, Chiamaka Nnadozie winning Goalkeeper of the Tournament, and Coach Justin Madugu receiving the Coach of the Tournament award.
