New Directive: Lagos Election Day Curfew Starts at 6 a.m

The Lagos State Police Command has announced a revision to the movement restriction earlier imposed for the Local Government elections scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025. According to a new directive issued Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, movement will now be restricted from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., instead of the previously announced 3:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The adjustment aims to accommodate residents with medical emergencies, appointments, and international travel plans. The police urged the public to cooperate with the new directive to ensure a peaceful and orderly election process across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

Commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Jimoh reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order during the election and advised Lagosians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity through the Command’s emergency lines: 08063299264 or 08065154338.

The police reminded residents that only accredited essential workers, such as medical emergency responders, election officials, and journalists with valid identification, would be allowed to move during the restriction period. All other previous directives remain in effect.
