Erik ten Hag Takes Over as Bayer Leverkusen Head Coach

German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen has officially appointed Erik ten Hag as their new head coach on a contract running until June 2027.
The Dutch tactician replaces Xabi Alonso, who led Leverkusen to domestic success before departing for Real Madrid. Ten Hag, previously Manchester United’s manager, was widely considered the top candidate for the role following Alonso’s exit.
Leverkusen confirmed the appointment in an official statement on Monday, stating: “Let’s get started! Erik ten Hag signs with Bayer 04 as our new head coach until 2027!”
The club clarified that the deal is a two-year agreement, extending through the 2026/27 season.
Ten Hag, known for his tactical expertise and success with Ajax and Manchester United, is expected to bring a fresh approach to Leverkusen’s playing style. His appointment marks a new era for the club as they aim to compete at the highest level in the Bundesliga and European competitions.
