Institute Hosts Tech Awareness Fest to Equip Youths with Technology

In Lagos yesterday, a diverse group of distinguished guests, faculty, students, industry experts, and technology enthusiasts gathered for the inaugural Tech Awareness Fest 1.0. Organized by the Prime Innovation Institute of Technology (PIIT).

Speaking at the event, Joe Ebinum, Chairman, Prime Innovation Institute of Technology (PIIT)ssid, “this edition is, actually a new concept, it is going to be an annual tech awareness event. The Institute is aggressively pursuing an agenda of making this awareness the bane of ICT because, that’s the present and the future.

According to him, “It’s important to note that Nigerian youths are very industrious and ambitious, all they need is just the right mentorship, and that’s where we come in, to make sure that we assist the government in doing that.

Reacting to question on what government is doing concerning ICT in the country, he stressed that, there are one or two things government is doing which is also laudable and encouraging, but, the government would also need to partner with people like them who are at forefront of the battle to encourage them because government cannot do it sll.

“Tech is multifaceted and all encompassing, it covers practically every profession. So,what we are doing is to give an all encompassing avenue for people to achieve their ambitions in life irrespective of their area of decipline. However, we major in software engineering, networking, programming, cyber security, artificial intelligence and robotic.” he added

Continuing, he advised that, “youths should not be left behind in this era of artificial intelligence, they should not be intimated by obstacles before them, they should look up to people like us who are willing and able to encourage them, to be the people that they want to be in the world.”

Also speaking at the event, Kobi Agwu, Tech Sales Expert, Beyond Strides Ltd pointed out that, “as we can see, the tech industry is booming, the global market projection this year is five trillion naira, which means that, the opportunity is vast especially for the youths,stressing that, there’s a huge demand for skilled tech persons in cloud computing, software engineering, machine learning, programming and app development, all this is as a result of emerging technologies that have been around for a while like artificial intelligence.”

“All these are areas that the youths can tap into and the reward is enormous, one of the rewards is actually the fact that, the skill you will be acquiring is a globally recognised skill that will make you relevant in every part of the world.” He noted.

Another facilitator at the event, Daniel Adeniyi, Business/Leadership Coach, Big God International said; “tech is no longer an option for anyone whether you are old or young, everyone has to be tech savvy. For the Nigerian youths, I believe the area of artificial intelligence is the area they must be conversant with, I believe in few years from now, artificial intelligence will literally take over every sphare of work.”

Earlier, in her welcome address, Kate Ebinum, The Executive Director, Prime Innovation Institute of Technology, who welcomed attendees to the event disclosed that, “we live in an era where technology is no longer a luxury but a necessity. It impacts every sector; education, business, healthcare, finance, entertainment, and beyond.”

According to her, “whether you are an entrepreneur leveraging digital tools, a student exploring the possibilities of AI, or a professional adapting to automation, technology is a force that shapes our daily lives. It drives businesses, revolutionizes industries, and unlocks endless opportunities for innovation and growth.”

Speaking on why Tech Awareness Matters
At PIIT, she said, “I believe that knowledge is the foundation of progress. That is why this event is designed to: Provide insights into how technology influences our day-to-day lives across various fields.”

“Our aim is to introduce cutting-edge trends such as AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and data science, equip audience with digital skills and awareness needed to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving world.” She remarked.

As we embark on today’s sessions, she continued, “I encourage you all to actively engage, ask questions, and absorb new ideas. Let this be a platform where we don’t just discuss technology but also explore how we can apply it to drive positive change. Whether you are here to learn, network, or spark new ideas, seize this opportunity to innovate, collaborate, and shape the future.”
