President Bola Tinubu has announced automatic employment for 774 fellows participating in the national health programme.

Speaking at the launch event in Abuja, Tinubu, addressing the fellows responsible for overseeing primary healthcare centres across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas, declared, “You are hired,” and assured them of employment following their one-year tenure.

The announcement came after the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, urged all levels of government to integrate the fellows into the workforce to strengthen universal health coverage. The national health fellows scheme, which selected participants from over 359,000 applicants based on merit, aims to foster innovation and drive impactful change in the health sector.

This initiative is a cornerstone of Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, designed to revitalize Nigeria’s primary healthcare system and ensure sustainable improvements in healthcare delivery.
