Bauchi To Reconstruct Residence Of First Civilian Governor Tatari Ali, NECO Office

The Bauchi state Executive Council (SEC) has granted approval for the reconstruction of residence of the first Civilian Governor of the state, Alhaji Abubakar Tatari Ali.

Our correspondent reports that Alhaji Abubakar Tatari Ali was elected in 1979 as the first civilian Governor of Bauchi state and held office until the military coup of 31 December 1983 which brought General Muhammadu Buhari to power.

The Commissioner of Housing and Environment in the state, Rt. Honourable Danlami Kawule who disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council SEC meeting which took place on Thursday, added that his ministry also presented a memo for the reconstruction of NECO office in the state and was approved.

According to him, the NECO office in Bauchi which was under construction some years ago got revoked because the work was abandoned.

“We all know that NECO is a federal government agency but they have state offices and that of Bauchi was under construction and was not completed years back. The contract was revoked because it was abandoned and the dilapidation level is high”, the Commissioner disclosed.

He further noted that the third memo approved by the SEC from his ministry was the renovation of the NYSC Orientation Camp at wailo, which he said has been in a state of dilapidation.

“The NYSC Orientation Camp at wailo has been in a state of dilapidation. His Excellency the Executive Governor of Bauchi, Senator Bala Abdukadir Mohammed visited the place some few months ago and asked the ministry to come up with quotation for its renovation and reconstruction quickly”, the Commissioner added.

“We forwarded to him, the request for the work for ratification of the Council and thank God we have gotten it”, he said.
