Plant, Don’t Cut Trees To Halt Desert Encroachment, Dambam LG Chairman Tasks Residents

The Executive Chairman of Dambam Local Government Area of Bauchi state, Honourable Yakubu Garba Tela has during a tree planting campaign Wednesday, appealed to residents to stop cutting but embark on massive planting of trees in order to stop desert from encroaching them.

He also advised them to support the Bauchi state government’s efforts towards addressing other environmental challenges such as climate change.

Hon Yakubu assured that Dambam Local Government under his stewardship will continue to support the state Ministry of Environment under the Commissioner Rt. Honourable Danlami Kawule to curb climate change and other environmental challenges confronting the state.

According to him, Dambam local Government will create a modern way of planting trees, in which each person will be able to one tree in order to stop global weather change in the locality.

On his part, the commissioner of Housing and Environment, Rt. Honourable Danlami Kawule called on the people of Dambam to ensure that the tree seedlings are planted for the purpose of safeguarding the environment.
