Education Stakeholders Praise Governor Bago’s Approach To Education
ADIGUN TUNDE – MINNA.
Niger state governor Mohammed Bago pragmatic approach to education has been identified as the missing link to transforming the sector in tune with global best practices.
This was the position of an Education stakeholder,and Director Test and measurement,Niger state ministry of Basic Education,Alhaji Abdullahi Asab Garba stated.
The Educationist spoke while featuring on a Radio programme monitored in Minna,the state capital.
The Director Test and measurement,submitted that the new approach of prioritizing Science,Technical education and innovation,would expedite government objective of producing not only employable,but self reliant graduates, with requisite skills and knowledge to be employers of labour.
He pointed out that with a committed and dedicated Commissioner, Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammed, the Governor’s education transformation initiative is not only achievable,but would be a successful legacy.
The Director, pointed out that, the focused and visionary leadership provided by Dr Hadiza Asabe Mohammed, in the ministry,is steadily making primary and secondary schools in the state once again,conducive for learning,through the provision of adequate classroom furnitures, as well as,teaching and learning tools.
He expressed optimism,that going by the commissioner’s resolve in this regards,cases where pupils seat on bare floors to acquire knowledge, would soon be history.
He then enjoined Nigerlites to key in to the state government’s new education policy which would serve, and address,the challenges of our developmental aspirations, in line with the 21st century.
Alhaji Asab Garba,who is also the Kaigaman Kagara Emirate,also commended the Governor for immediately offsetting the debts owed WAEC and NECO, by the state government on his assumption of office.
He pointed out that this gesture, clearly indicated the Administration’s commitment,to be a progressive partner with the two Examination bodies,in charting a new course for educational resurgence of the state.
