The Deputy chief whip of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Onyekachi Peter Nwebonyi representing Ebonyi North Senatorial zone yesterday said that tax reform introduced by the President Ahmed Bola Tinubu would be the greatest of his administration.
Nwebonyi stated in his home town Mbeke Ishieke, Ebonyi local Government of Ebonyi state during an annual empowerment program of his constituent.
He noted that tax reform is going to shift tax boaden from the poor to the rich, knowing that local market women are paying produce for buying bag of garri and village men are paying produce as well for buying vegetable not up to one thousand naira .
The Deputy chief whip further stated that the intention of Mr. President is to stop labouring petty traders and shift tax to the big business owners in the country.
According to him,” The tax reform of President Bala Amid Tinubu is going to be the greatest achievement of his administration and it should be welcomed by all.
“Two things impresses me in that tax reform. The tax reform is going to shift borden from the poor to the rich
“You will agree with me now that if you go to my market now people are paying produce for buying bag of garri and village women are paying produce for vegetable less than one thousand but what president is doing with this tax reform is to stop taxing such small small business and move it to big business .
“like if you want to drink beer, vat should be increased because that is lasary and if you want to buy Suv, they should increase the vat because you are a big man but if you want to buy garry you should not pay tax.
“And moreover, this tax reform will encourage healthy competition among the federating states of the federation because is going to be more economic activities in your state the more allocation you get” Nwebonyi stressed.
