President Tinubu Rehabilitating S-East Roads – FERMA Board Member, Ugbala

The Board member representing South-East zone in the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Dr.Kenneth Ugbala, has revealed the committed efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in rehabilitating the deplorable roads in the south east region.

He said that the South East roads are currently receiving great attention under the President Tinubu’s administration.

Dr Ugbala who revealed this in Abakaliki during a press conference, noted that the vision of FEMA in South East is to make sure that roads built by the federal ministry of works are being maintained and that is they cure mandates

The FEMA commissioner, however, revealed that work is seriously ongoing in Abakaliki,Abia, Enugu and some part of Anambra.

He called for more collaboration with South East Governors and relevant stakeholders from the zone to achieve the best in the roads maintenance in the south East zone

According to him,”We need to work seriously in our maintenance culture because is not only to build road but to maintain the road and you can bear me with that when you build a road without maintaining it, you will know that we are losing it. President Tinubu has given us matching order to make sure that all the road in the nation are being attended to.

“If you watch from Abakaliki to Afikpo you will see that road maintenance is going on by FEMA because where are not there by then in budget and we not being appointed by then president but minister and those in authority took it that everything is being maintained.

“If you go to Abakaliki,Abia, Enugu and some part of Anambra state, infact, South East states roads are receiving attention but this year, we want to improve on what we have been doing, a lot of road can be accommodated in our budget our resources may not be enough online with our demands but we are concerned in making sure that there is transparcy and we plays value for money in what we do because is not easy battling with contractors and we look for collaboration with South East Governors and relevant stakeholders from the zone to achieve the best for our people” He said
