Shun Hostilities, Embrace Peace -Ivo Chairman Urges Warring Communities

The Executive Chairman of Ivo Local Government Area, Hon. Ajah Emmanuel Ogbonna, also known as “Confirm,” has urged warring factions in the ongoing land dispute between the Umuobor-Akaeze and Ogwor-Ishiagu communities to halt hostilities and embrace peace.
During a press briefing in Abakaliki, Hon. Ogbonna commended the Ebonyi State Governor for designating the disputed area as a buffer zone and deploying security forces to restore tranquility in the conflict-affected communities.
Addressing allegations circulating on social media linking him to the violent clashes, the chairman refuted the claims, insisting that a doctored video wrongly accused him of instigating crisis.
He disavowed any involvement in the conflict and emphasized his commitment to peace in the area.

Despite initial mediation efforts through a committee comprising stakeholders and security agencies, renewed clashes hampered progress towards peace. The chairman recounted the challenges faced in mediating peace talks and the subsequent arrest of individuals involved in the conflict.
Following the Governor’s declaration of the conflict area as a buffer zone, Hon. Ogbonna mobilized security personnel to maintain order in the region.
He called on the feuding communities to uphold peace and allow the reconciliation process to proceed unhindered.
Expressing concern for the safety of travelers and residents, the chairman assured the public of secured roads within the local government during the festive period. He urged both communities to prioritize peace and cooperation, emphasizing the importance of resolving differences amicably.
