Kano State Governor Reshuffles Cabinet, Removes SSG, Chief of Staff, and Others

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has implemented his administration’s first significant cabinet reshuffle, removing key officials including the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, and Chief of Staff, Alhaji Shehu Sagag.

This development was confirmed in a statement issued by Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, the governor’s spokesperson.

The statement cited health reasons for Dr. Bichi’s removal, while the office of the Chief of Staff was dissolved entirely. Governor Yusuf emphasized that the reshuffle was part of his administration’s strategy to deliver on its commitments to the people of Kano State.

Additionally, five commissioners were relieved of their duties:

• Ibrahim Jibril Fagge (Finance)
• Ladidi Ibrahim Garko (Culture and Tourism)
• Baba Dantiye (Information and Internal Affairs)
• Shehu Yammedi (Special Duties)
• Abbas Sani Abbas (Rural and Community Development)

The governor directed the former Chief of Staff and the dismissed commissioners to report to his office for possible reassignment.

Despite the reshuffle, several cabinet members retained their positions:

• Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi (Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice)
• Dr. Danjuma Mahmoud (Agriculture)
• Dr. Abubakar Labaran (Health)
• Hon. Abduljabbar Umar (Land and Physical Planning)
• Hon. Musa Shannon (Budget and Planning)
• Alhaji Marwan Ahmad (Works and Housing)
• Sefiyanu Hamza (Solid and Mineral Resources)
• Sheikh Ahmad Auwal (Religious Affairs)
• Hon. Mustapha Kwankwaso (Youth and Sports)
• Adamu Kibiya (Investment and Commerce)
• Retired Maj.-Gen. Mohammad Idris (Internal Security and Special Services)

Governor Yusuf also reassigned several officials to new roles to enhance administrative efficiency:

• Aminu Abdulssalam moved from the Ministry of Local Government to the Ministry of Higher Education.
• Mohammad Usman transferred from Science and Technology to Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
• Dr. Yusuf Kofar Mata shifted from Higher Education to Science, Technology, and Innovation.
• Amina Abdullahi reassigned from Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation to Women, Children, and Disabled Affairs.
• Nasiru Sule Garo moved from Environment and Climate Change to Special Duties.
• Hon. Ibrahim Namadi transferred from Project Monitoring and Evaluation to Transport.
• Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa moved from Education to Water Resources.
• Hon. Ali Haruna Makoda transferred from Water Resources to Education.
• Hon. Aisha Lawal Saji reassigned from Women, Children, and Disabled Affairs to Tourism and Culture.
• Hon. Muhammad Diggol moved from Transport to Project Monitoring and Evaluation.

This reshuffle aims to optimize governance and ensure effective service delivery across Kano State.
