Benue govt vows commitment to business-friendly environment, others

The Benue State government has expressed its commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment that supports industrial expansion and youth empowerment.

The Commissioner of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Mr. Alumo Orpin stated this Wednesday when being conducted round the newly built Benue Investment and Property Company, BIPC, Polythene and Nylon Printing Factory, BIPC Nails Ltd, as well as the bread and water expansion factories in Makurdi, billed for commissioning on Thursday by Governor Hyacinth Alia.

At the Polythene and Nylon Printing Factory, the Commissioner was introduced to the intricate printing process, which involved the production of high-quality packaging materials for various industries.

He commended the factory’s efforts to meet market demands and support local businesses through its services.

The tour concluded at the Food Basket Brewery, where the Commissioner lauded the efforts of BIPC in promoting local enterprise and job creation.

He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Alia’s administration “to fostering a business-friendly environment that supports industrial expansion and youth empowerment.”

He expressed optimism about the potential of the BIPC facilities to drive economic growth in Benue State, pledging the government’s support in addressing challenges such as infrastructure development and workforce training to enhance productivity and competitiveness.

The Commissioner also encouraged other stakeholders to collaborate with the government in creating avenues for skills acquisition and entrepreneurship, noting that such partnerships were critical for sustainable development in the state.

The Managing Director of the company, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha stated the Benue was in dire need of skilled workforce to add impetus to the socio-economic reforms and transformation of the state by the Governor Hyacinth Alia-led administration.

He noted that the skilled manpower was a major factor in economic growth and development urging that Benue youths embrace it.

He noted the urgent need for young people to acquire modern skills relevant to industrial growth, stating that “most of the technicians who installed and are operating the machines are from the South East, West and far North.”

The Managing Director who lauded Governor Alia for driving the economic revolution in the state which he said was already yielding fruits urged the people to rally round the Governor to support and encourage him to do more for the state.

He also urged the youths to take advantage of the opportunities in technical and vocational education sector noting that “for industries like ours to thrive, we need a workforce that is skilled and adaptable to modern techniques.”
